Broadband World Ranking, South Korea is the 1st, Indonesia?

global-broadbandStrategy Analytics, a global research and data company, sort penetration broadband of many  countries in the world. Rather than using per capita data, this institution sort based on penetration of broadband households.

“Broadband rank debated so often. Even though our ranking results may be different from other institutions, this is because we see it from the right size,” said David Mercer, Vice President and Principal Analyst of Strategy Analytics.

Based on penetration of broadband households, we can see that broadband penetration in Asia is very high. Almost half of the Top 10 ranking is a country of Asia.

At the end of last year 95% of Korean households took broadband service, compared to 88% in Singapore and 81% in Hong Kong. But one or two European countries are edging towards the top of the list, led by the Netherlands (85%) and Denmark (82%).

Besides Singapore, the position of countries of South-East Asia is relatively low. Malaysia, for example, is in position number 43 with 21 percent. Meanwhile, Thailand (7%), Vietnam (7%) and Philippines (5%) respectively in position 50 to 52.

And what about Indonesia? The last position with 1%.
