1 of 5 Children Love To Access Forbidden Sites

Critical, one of five children who surf on the Internet, like to visit porn sites and other forbidden sites.
That is the latest research by Symantec, network security and Norton antivirus company. Those children under the age of 15 years.
“And that variety of activities was unknown by the parents,” said Effendy Ibrahim, Internet Safety Advocat and Norton Business Lead Symantec Asia South Region, at the Intercontinental Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday (18/6/2009).
The research was held in 12 developed countries in the world such as USA, UK, Sweden, to China.
Although Indonesia is not included, but Symantec was sure that
there are certain similarities behavior if the child has entered the virtual world. “This research can be similar in everycountry,” said Ibrahim.
To prevent the bad habit like that, Symantec has launched the web-based parental tools application to protect children.
He said this application is useful for parents to monitor their children’s activities along with a site that they visited when they are surfing on the internet.
“Its use is also quite easy, even parents who don’t understand about computer can also use it,” said Ibrahim.
The application that can be downloaded free on the site onlinefamily.norton.com provides a variety of filters that can be customized by user.
“The product family is still free tools because just launched one and half months ago. We would like to see the market response before deciding must be paid or not,” Ibrahim demolished./MrStanza
