Yogyakarta is well known as one of famous tourism destination in Indonesia. Beside be one of city in Indonesia that have unique characteristic for its javanese culture, Yogyakarta also be one of the education destination in Indonesia for it’s university student number that comes from various hometown. But nowadays, both of the predicate seems not enough to describe Yogyakarta condition. One more predicate is justifiable to be given. Yogyakarta as IT City. This predicate isn’t without reason.

New trend appears in Yogyakarta IT fans, ”Sunday Sonten”, is a combination between IT and unique culture of Yogyakarta. Planned and organized by JogjaIT, a Jogja Information and Technology Community. For the first time, Sunday Sonten held in 30 nNovember 2008 located at Jogja Bisnis Center, this event attrach IT society in Indonesia because the concept that being served is realy realy adopted by the Yogyakarta custom, and served as the answer of Yogyakarta people needs. That is actual, entertaining, interesting and free.

As community which just formed, Sunday sonten show it’s consistency in serving it’s activity to Yogyakarta society. More than 7 routine activity has been held and all of them are successfully get the society animo.
There are several different activity that be part of Sunday Sonten.

• Gandrung IT :Activity that makes society starts loving IT, the encloser activity from organizer is ”bundle” IT with some folks entertainment, such as music, magic, etc.

• Lesehan IT: Food and beverages party as the unique of Yogyakarta, ”Angkringan”.

• Glenikan IT: Discussion Activity, Brainstorming, Asking Question between visitor and IT Communitty that enthusias represent them self.

• Umuk IT:Time for demonstration members ability and skill. In previous activity, the visitor able to watch hacking demo, robot, etc. Someting like seminar but in the brotherhod environtment and free for sure !.

For the next, Sunday Sunten is expexted can be Yogyakarta People IT barometer. The progress of IT Comunity which develop continously, not only from quantitiy but also quality, so the IT City as new predicate for Yogyakarta can be upholded not only by the comunity but also from all Yogya people. So the mission of Sunday Sonten for socialize the IT can be reached for sure./chend
